ACCA HK Invites Entries to Business Competition

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Hong Kong invites sub-degree accounting and business students from the local institutes to join the "ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition 2009". The closing date for entries is 10 October 2009.

The ACCA Business Competition aims to equip participating students with thorough analytical skills, business proposal writing skills, presentation skills and communication skills through working in a team environment in a real but interesting business situation. Riding on the supportive responses, this Competition in its third year continues to invite candidates to sharpen their technical knowledge and polish their analytical, management and communication skills that are required as an accounting and finance professional.

To demonstrate their ability and creativity, interested students studying in sub-degree accounting or business programmes (including diploma, higher diploma and associate degree programmes) are required to form a team of two to four and develop a business plan for organising the five-day International Youth Festival at the Youth Square (Y2).

All participating teams are invited to join a site visit to the Youth Square and attend a business writing workshop. Upon reviewing the submitted proposals, 20 short-listed teams will be entitled to attend a presentation skills workshop. The Final Competition will be held on 21 November 2009 where the six finalist teams will present their business proposals to the judging panel and audience.

Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded to the Champion, first runner up and second runner up teams. To encourage participation and acknowledge participants' effort, awards including "Best Presenter", "Best Team Spirit", "Most Innovative Team", "Best Proposal" and "Best Budgeting" will be presented to outstanding teams and participants.

This year's Competition is supported by its media sponsor Ming Pao Newspapers Limited, and supporting organisations include the Hong Kong Ideas Centre, New World Development Limited and Youth Square.

Students wishing to apply can download the application forms and obtain more details from ACCA website.
