ACCOUNTANTS BREAK SIX FIGURE BENCHMARK AGAIN
ACCA Ireland (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) has just published its 2008 salary survey which shows that the average salary for a senior member has broken the six figure mark again this year.
In this year’s survey, the average salary for a partner in practice rose to €124,000, an increase of 13% on last year. The figure was higher for senior members in the financial services sector, who reported an average salary of €136,000, an increase of €21,000 since 2007.

Those working in the financial services sector were paid the highest salaries overall, up to 10% more at senior level than their counterparts in other sectors. Outside Dublin, the average salary for all levels of experience was broadly similar in each location. .
40% of respondents reported a salary increase of more than 6%. 93% of ACCA accountants stated that they were happy with their career choice.
In response to questions on work/life balance, 39% of respondents reported having flexible hours of work, with 21% allowed to work from home for at least part of the working week. 55% of those polled would consider reducing salary for a better work-life balance.
The survey was carried out in July 2008 in partnership with Premier Financial Recruitment. Full survey results available at
