ACCA and Rutgers share a common philosophy –both believe in and understand the significance of life long learning and the importance for professionals to meet the training and development needs of businesses today. With the increasingly changing accounting and complex business environment worldwide, accounting and finance professionals in today's business world need to adapt and undertake new skills. Knowledge of rules and standards is key but strategic thinking, sound business advice and successful contribution to the performance of businesses are also what employers look for and will count as professionals move up the corporate ladder.
ACCA is highly regarded as the qualification which provides all its students with rigorous accounting, finance and technical knowledge. Rutgers will complement by teaching graduates to step up and lead through innovative programs that combine advanced technical know-how with management skills, team experience, and critical thinking.
Ms Penelope Phoon, ACCA Singapore Country Head said: "The ACCA-Rutgers partnership will have a positive impact on a large number of ACCA professionals working in Singapore. The career aspirations of ACCA members are growing and many are seeking to gain further qualifications to enhance their range of knowledge and skills. A combination of both the ACCA qualification and Rutger's offering will boost career prospects and the mobility of our members both locally and internationally."
Mr David Barker, Executive Director of Rutgers Singapore added: "As the first US University to offer an Executive MBA in China, Rutgers has long held the belief that accounting and finance business leaders need to think globally. We brought our EMBA to Singapore recently and will now use this as the launch location for our international Master of Accountancy. We are pleased to announce the collaboration with ACCA as part of the launch. ACCA represents global thinking through its actions and membership and fits nicely with the focus and high standards of Rutgers curriculum."
