About the Course
Established in 1875, The Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland (CIOBS) is a key influencer in the development of financial services industry in UK. CIOBS is the only organization in the world that can award the Chartered Banker designation.
To obtain the Chartered Banker designation, ACCA members are only required to study and successfully complete the following 3 subjects designed to complement their existing accountancy qualification, no working experience in bank is required.
- Professionalism and Ethics
- Financial Economics
- One subject chosen from Business Banking, Retail Banking, UK Financial Services or Building Society Operations.
The programme courses study the financial systems at a deeper level. These courses are helpful for accountants who are working in business, banking, financial services, listing corporations, etc. No matter you work as Financial Controller, Chief Financial Officer, Compliance Officer, Investment Director, you also need to know fund flows – how central banks/interest rates work; how different financial markets are linked together; and compliance issues, etc.
The continued use of the Chartered Banker title requires candidates to fulfill the annual CPD requirement of CIOBS. Participation in recognized accountancy body’s CPD programme may meet much of this.
