Since ACCA has launched its new qualification and this would be examined from December 2007 therefore this conference was aimed to help the faculty members in preparing themselves for the ACCA new curriculum in addition equipping the lecturers with appropriate skills for them to be able to effectively engage with their students.

Rhys divided the conference into two section i-e techniques to train the trainer and the discussion on the new qualification.
The first half of the day was spent on discussing how to run excellent ACCA exam preparation courses which included what makes an excellent lecturer; how to design a course to prepare students for ACCA exams - course structures, timings, content; how to prepare course materials (with a focus on example questions and answers); how to deliver an exam preparation lecture and conducting a course review.
This was followed by a question and answer session of thirty minutes in which a number of questions were raised by the participants especially on the areas of improvement in lecture preparation and encouraging the students to take mock examinations.
After a 30 minutes lunch break, Rhys then discussed the new ACCA Paper P1 - Professional Accountant. He shared the syllabus and contents of this examination with the participants along with the techniques to teach this paper. He recommended the participants to read the article related to paper P1 named ‘Testing, Testing – One, Two, Three’ published in January 2007 edition of Student Accountant magazine by Gareth Owen.
Rhys also discussed the changes made by ACCA in each paper under the new qualification and the approach of the examiners while preparing and marking the examinations.
The conference was very well received by the participants. Certificates of attendance and a copy of group photograph with Rhys Johnson were given to all participants by Rhys while a bouquet was presented to him by Mr. Haroon as a token of appreciation.
